Pack 40 Cub Scouts in Quincy
Cub Scout Pack 40 has been around for many years. Just like any activity, it has its ups and downs. We currently have around 15 boys and are in a rebuilding stage. We have a good number of active parents and boys and are looking to do more as we grow and learn more about the program and get more training.

Joining Night Success!! 2008
Well, we had our Pack Party Night. We had about 25 boys and their parents show up for the fun and games we had planned. A few of our existing leaders had activities for the boys in our big meeting hall, and I took the parents into a smaller classroom and talked about the program with them. We had a good night....5 boys signed up that night...and the rest of our dens will be meeting this coming week...and we will see how that goes. Here are a few pix of our activities and the full house.

2008 Joining Night
I Just wanted to post a note to anyone reading this, and interested in signing up their son for Cub Scouts this year. We are having our Fall Joining night on Oct 2, 2008 at the St Paul Lutheran Church in Quincy at 6:00 pm downstairs. There will be fun and goodies and a Grab Bag for the Boys. The cost to sign up will be $10 and that includes a book.
If you are interested please show up...with every new crop of boys we will need willing parents to help with activities and dens. Good times and fun for boys and parents. See you there.

FCAD 2008
Farmer Consumer Awareness Day has come and gone for another year. This is the first year we as a Pack have done anything in a long time. We had a snow cone booth and were selling our Birdhouses and spreading the word of Cub Scouting. Because the booth is small and we were dealing with some sticky stuff (more than 1 of us ended up wearing some juice) we just had parents helping in the booth. We had a great time. Talked to lots of people sold tons of snowcones, and are looking forward to doing it agian next year already. I will get more pix from other cameras as they come in.

BBQ in the Park
Well, as an end to Summer - - Welcome back Skool...we had a BBQ at the park tonight. Had most of the boys there. Were able to hash out some FCAD stuff (parade, snow cones, birdhouses) and get some other details hammered out for the up-coming scout year. Here are a few pics of the Kids and the BBQ Master.

Arrrgggg - Part Duex!!!
So, our second day of Cub Day Camp came and went (Aug 17th). Today, we were Shooting BB Guns (with our NRA Certified Instructors), Building our Bird Houses for our Pack Fundraisers, we had a Treasure Hunt and put together Leather Coin Bags for all the Pirate Doubloons. We has had Boiled Octopus for snacks. All in all, the kids all had fun, the weather cooperated, even though the car read 107* when we got ready to leave, and the parents are all glad it is over and the kids were happy.

Arrrgggg! The Pirates R Here!!!
This year we put on our own Cub Scout Day Camp. We held the event at Twin Firs Sod Farm just outside of town (200 acres of grassy front yard). From the title, you can tell we had a Pirate theme, along with other Cub activities. On the first day (Aug 16th), we did Tie Dye T-Shirts, Shark Tooth Necklaces and some water activities with the kids. We had about 12 Scouts and 3 Sisters with us during the events. Here are some pictures of the activities on day one.
