Pack 40 Cub Scouts in Quincy

Cub Scout Pack 40 has been around for many years. Just like any activity, it has its ups and downs. We currently have around 15 boys and are in a rebuilding stage. We have a good number of active parents and boys and are looking to do more as we grow and learn more about the program and get more training.

St Paul Lutheran Church here in Quincy is our Sponsor and we meet there.

December 2007 Pack Meeting

At our First Pack Meeting in a number of years, we had a few different awards to pass out and we had 6 boys earn their Bobcat Badge. First we handed out certificates and patches for our Scouting for Food drive on 12-9-07. Then Committee Chair Russ, lead everyone in an action song (Do Your Ears Hang Low)....then we handed out the Bobcat Awards and had the boys pin on the Mothers/Fathers Pin on their parents. At our Next pack meeting we hope to have at least 6 more Bobcats, and hopefully more things to share and projects to look at.

More Scouting for Food with Firefighters

One of our Other dads, took some other pictures of the Boys on 12-9-07. Here are some other boys helping collect food. The Firefighters turned in the food later that next week and are guessing that there was close to 600 lbs of food collected that day around town and at the local grocery stores.

Food Drive w/Firefighters 12-9-07

Today, the Cubs and the Volunteer Firefighters went around town with Santa and collected food for our local Food Bank. We had about 8 boys and their parents, as well as about 8-10 Firefighters driving some engines and "chase" rigs with the food in back. The boys all got to ride on the Fire Trucks and they also walked around with Santa collecting food. They all seemed to have a good time.

Pinewood Derby - 11-11-07

So after 4 weeks of meetings and building the cars together, we finally get to race day. Out of 14 boys registered at the time...we had 12 race and 2 siblings also. We borrowed a computerized track from a friend of scouts, and set up the track at the Jr. High gym. We had a great time and it was surprisingly quick. Here are a list of the Places and a a few other awards:
  1. Trevor
  2. Hunter
  3. Dakota
  4. Louis
  5. Ben had Judges Favorite Car
  6. Gabriel had Best Paint Job
