It has been a while since we posted some pictures. Over Fathers Day (June 15, 2008), we took the boys to a Mariners Game in Seattle. They played the WA Nationals. The game was not that exciting....as the M's are not doing so well this year. But the boys had fun and all the parents did also. I know there will be more pictures to put online, but I wanted to get some up real quick. Thanks to Columbia Colstor for arranging for tickets for us to go.

Pack Hike - 4-27-08

One of the requirements for our Tiger Badge is to take a Hike with your den. We decided we wanted to wrap a bunch of electives and fun into this hike and open it up for the whole Pack. Went all met down at the Ancient Lakes Trail head in the Quincy lakes area, and hiked about 15 minutes into the first little waterfall. From there, we put down our backpacks, and just started hiking around and checking out the area. A couple of the electives we did were to have a picnic, and do some leaf rubbings, as well as a litter scavenger hunt. There were only 5 boys and 1 little sister, but there were 5 parents too...so that made it really nice. Our 4 Tigers should be able to earn their badge this month before school gets out, which was our goal in the first place.

All if all, we had a great hike, good lunch break and lots of fun around the lakes.

Tiger Cubs Invade the Newspaper

On March 3, 2008, our Tiger Den visited the local newspaper office (as part of their requirements) and talked with the Editor of the paper and a few of the copywriters and staff. Even though there was only 4 boys and a couple of little sisters, they got to take a picture of 2 and they put their picture on the Front page of the local paper and then gave them all a copy. It was pretty fun for them.

Feb. 2008 Pine Wood Derby

On Thursday Feb. 28th, our Pack and Pack 76 got together and had a joint PineWood Derby just before the District Races. We had about 20 boys race cars. They each got to race 4 times and then the times were averaged out to find winners...

Pack 40 Winners: 4th Place, Colby 3rd Place, Hunter 2nd Place, Trevor and 1st was Blake.

Tigers learn Local History

On February 4, 2008, our Tiger Cub Den visited our local History Museum, the Reiman-Simmons House. This house was built in 1904 and has been restored and turned into a local history stop for Quincy. Just recently, a church that was built the following year was also moved onto the property and will also be restored and used for special occasions within our community. The boys had a great time learning about the house and its history, as well as what things were like back in those days playing on an interactive touch-screen computer to guide you thru a days chores and duties back in the early 1900's. Thank you to the Museum Staff for helping our scouts learn about our area, as well as pass off another Tiger Requirement.

Here are some other pictures of our sledding trip at the end of January 2008. As you can see, all the kids (big and small) had a great time. I have heard that everyone wants to do this again year after year.

January 27, 2008 Sledding

It has been many years since Pack 40 had a sledding trip...yesterday we had a great time. The weather was perfect, mid-20s with a hint of snow here and there with no breeze to speak of. We had roughly 20 boys girls and friends and maybe probably 10+ parents. We left just before 2 in the afternoon, and had to drag everyone home just before 5 pm. I think we might still be up there if it was up to the kids. There were numerous parents with cameras, so I am sure we will have a few entries with different pictures this week.
