BBQ in the Park

Well, as an end to Summer - - Welcome back Skool...we had a BBQ at the park tonight. Had most of the boys there. Were able to hash out some FCAD stuff (parade, snow cones, birdhouses) and get some other details hammered out for the up-coming scout year. Here are a few pics of the Kids and the BBQ Master.

So, our second day of Cub Day Camp came and went (Aug 17th). Today, we were Shooting BB Guns (with our NRA Certified Instructors), Building our Bird Houses for our Pack Fundraisers, we had a Treasure Hunt and put together Leather Coin Bags for all the Pirate Doubloons. We has had Boiled Octopus for snacks. All in all, the kids all had fun, the weather cooperated, even though the car read 107* when we got ready to leave, and the parents are all glad it is over and the kids were happy.

Here are some more pictures from Day one. I forgot we had a small campfire that night (Yes, it was close to 100* when we were playing with the fire), and we cooked Banana Steamboats, and sang some songs to close the night.

Arrrgggg! The Pirates R Here!!!

This year we put on our own Cub Scout Day Camp. We held the event at Twin Firs Sod Farm just outside of town (200 acres of grassy front yard). From the title, you can tell we had a Pirate theme, along with other Cub activities. On the first day (Aug 16th), we did Tie Dye T-Shirts, Shark Tooth Necklaces and some water activities with the kids. We had about 12 Scouts and 3 Sisters with us during the events. Here are some pictures of the activities on day one.

Mammoth Dig in Selah 7-15-08

A few months back, I was looking online and stumbled upon the Central Washington University website. Being that I went to college there, it was not unfounded. On the front page was a big deal about Central Students helping excavate a mammoth that was found down around Selah. I figured that we would end up taking the Cubs to check that out this summer, as most of those boys really love that stuff. We had 3 cars full of boys and parents that traveled down to check that out in July 15th, 2008. It was pretty cool and educational, and the kids all loved seeing the bones and the people out digging the stuff up.
